Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, and other BI tools as required.
  • Build interactive, performance-optimized visuals, data models, and semantic layers.
  • Create reusable KPIs, measures (DAX), calculated fields, and templates.
  • Engage directly with business users to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and translate needs into technical specifications.
  • Own requirement understanding end-to-end and ensure alignment before development begins.
  • Deliver reporting solutions with minimal rework through strong requirement comprehension.
  • Build robust data models including fact/dimension structures, star/snowflake schemas.
  • Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimized data transformations.
  • Work with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, Databricks, or Snowflake.
  • Work with SQL, views, stored procedures, and Fabric Lakehouse or equivalent data platforms.

Microsoft Fabric (Preferred Expertise)

Hands-on experience or working knowledge of:

  • Fabric Lakehouse, Delta tables, or Warehouse.
  • Dataflows, pipelines, or Fabric engineering components.
  • Semantic model creation and best practices within the Fabric ecosystem.
  • Implement best practices in data modeling, naming conventions, and folder/report structure.
  • Maintain documentation including data dictionaries, technical specifications, and lineage.
  • Ensure performance optimization for large and complex datasets.

Must be able to present previous BI projects clearly, including:

  • Business problem
  • Approach & dataset
  • BI tools used
  • KPIs and insights generated
  • Impact / business value delivered
  • Ability to articulate design rationale and analytical decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+years of BI development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI (DAX, M, data modeling, semantic modeling).
  • Strong proficiency in Tableau (LOD, dashboards, story points).
  • Advanced SQL skills (joins, window functions, optimization).
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, or similar modern cloud platforms.
  • Experience building scalable BI models with large datasets.
  • Experience with end-to-end BI project lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of business domains such as sales, finance, supply chain, operations, or BFSI.
  • Ability to convert business questions into analytical problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300)
  • Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600)
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist / Certified Associate
  • Azure Data Engineer (optional)
