Software Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal tools and services that support commercial analytics and reporting
• Develop scalable backend systems and data pipelines to process high-volume payments data
• Collaborate with data analysts, product managers, and commercial stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Improve data accessibility and reliability across the organisation
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of the Commercial Insights platform
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint planning
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin, or Node.js)
• Experience building APIs and microservices
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Familiarity with data processing concepts and ETL pipelines
• Understanding of software design principles and system architecture
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines

Desirable Experience

• Experience in FinTech, payments, or financial services
• Exposure to data analytics, BI tools, or data warehousing
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming technologies
• Frontend development experience (React or similar)
• Experience working in cross-functional product teams
• Understanding of security and compliance considerations in financial systems
