Senior Product Designer

Job Description

Key accountabilities:

• Work closely with delivery lead, developers, service designers, and subject matter experts to co-design intuitive, customer-focused solutions that align with business and policy objectives.
• Lead the end-to-end design process for digital products and services, including research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, testing, and high-fidelity UI design.
• Develop viable and sustainable solutions within technical constraints and brand and design system guidelines that align customer needs and business requirements.
• Stay up to date with the best user research practices, including User Interaction (UI), accessibility guidelines, and visual design practices.
• Provide expert, specialist advice to product teams, departments, and stakeholders on best practice innovations and trends in human-centered design (HCD), content, accessibility, usability, and user research practices.
• Provide advice and guidance to local and partner development teams to ensure compliance with the department’s design system standards and guidelines.

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

• Tertiary qualifications in design, interaction design, information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to design intuitive and accessible web or mobile interfaces, ideally for complex or service-oriented environments.
• Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and collaborative platforms like Miro or Confluence.
• Solid knowledge of Human-Centered Design (HCD) or Design Thinking methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience in journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
• Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and a strong understanding of inclusive design principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
• Ability to take on additional responsibilities of a UI / UX Business Analyst and assist with gathering requirements, when required
