Senior Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer

Job Description

We are supporting a leading organisation in the pharmaceutical / healthcare technology sector who are looking for an experienced Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer.

You will work closely with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure performance, scalability, governance, and observability across the BI platform.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimise Power BI Premium / Microsoft Fabric capacity in production environments
• Monitor and troubleshoot query performance, refresh failures, and dataset latency
• Diagnose and resolve capacity pressure issues including CPU utilisation, memory spikes, and refresh concurrency
• Support enterprise-scale semantic models used by large user groups
• Work closely with engineering teams to improve data platform performance and scalability
• Implement and maintain governance and security across multiple workspaces
• Identify root causes of slow dashboards or performance issues across data models, DAX, capacity usage, or refresh schedules

Requirements

Power BI / Microsoft Fabric

• Experience working with Power BI Premium (P SKU) or Microsoft Fabric capacity
• Managing or monitoring capacity allocation and performance
• Familiarity with:
• Fabric Capacity Metrics App
• Power BI Admin Portal
• XMLA endpoints
• Strong experience supporting production BI environments

Performance Monitoring & Observability

• Monitoring:
• Query performance and latency
• Dataset refresh duration and failures
• Capacity utilisation and throttling
• User concurrency
• Experience with tools such as:
• Log Analytics
• Microsoft Sentinel
• Fabric Monitoring Hub
• Power BI Activity Logs
