Publication Designer

Job Description

responsibilities

• Develop publication concepts, design systems and sample spreads.
• Execute complete layouts for catalogues, books, reports, booklets and related editorial material.
• Work with supplied text and images, identifying content or asset issues early.
• Incorporate feedback while maintaining design quality and consistency.
• Recommend appropriate formats, materials and production specifications within project budgets.
• Liaise with printers, review proofs and resolve technical issues before production.
• Deliver thoroughly checked print-ready files, digital editions and complete editable working files.

Required experience and skills

• Proven experience independently delivering publications from concept through print production.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, including styles, parent pages and long-document workflows.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• A portfolio showing complete publications and close-up details of printed outcomes.
• Experience in art, culture, architecture or design publishing would be an advantage.
