Your new role

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of analytics engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Set priorities, define clear goals, and ensure timely delivery of data products aligned with organisational needs.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, ownership, and iterative problem‑solving.

From a delivery perspective, you will:

  • Scope, design, and build robust, reusable data models using dbt within a cloud‑based data ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise‑grade data pipelines and analytical datasets to support BI, reporting, data science, and analytical applications.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance through strong documentation, testing, and validation practices.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, domain‑driven data architectures.
  • Create and maintain ERDs, data flow diagrams, and technical documentation aligned with enterprise standards.

You will also:

  • Establish and continuously refine best practices for data modelling, transformation, and delivery.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to improve the end‑to‑end data product lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, standardise, and optimise analytics workflows.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into actionable data solutions.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • 2+ years’ experience leading or mentoring a technical data team.
  • Experience working in large‑scale or enterprise data environments.
  • Proven ability to establish and improve data processes and standards at scale.
  • Experience designing and interpreting ERDs and database schemas.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and dbt.
  • Experience building data models and pipelines in cloud‑based data platforms (AWS or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Git‑based version control and CI/CD practices (preferred).
  • Python proficiency (preferred).
  • Experience with BI or visualisation tools such as Power BI (preferred).
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and metadata management practices (preferred).
  • Experience with geospatial data (highly regarded).
