Job Description

About the role:

Walker St Data, part of Shift, believes putting live customer data at the centre of all interactions creates powerful, personalised experiences. Backed by deep industry expertise and proven technology, we’re here to help B2B businesses unlock smarter, faster, and more scalable ways to use data. We take transaction banking data from any source and turn it into usable information about your customer base, their networks, the health of their partnerships, and ultimately the next best interaction with them.

We’re looking for a Frontend-focused Engineer who loves working with React and TypeScript. In this role, you’ll have the chance to truly make your mark by taking ownership of a key web application. Since the codebase is still fairly small, it’s a fantastic opportunity to help shape its future and direction in a meaningful way.

What you’ll do:

  • Own and evolve our core web application, driving improvements and new directions
  • Build high-quality, polished user experiences in React and TypeScript
  • Improve user flows and bring strong product and design thinking to every feature
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless integration with systems and APIs
  • Shape and deliver new features, reports, and product enhancements based on user needs
  • Contribute to the overall reliability, maintainability, and scalability of the platform
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions
  • Champion best practices for code quality, accessibility, and continuous improvement

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience developing with React and TypeScript in production environments
  • A frontend-first approach, with a keen eye for detail and strong product instincts
  • Experience designing and improving complex user flows and thoughtful interfaces
  • Solid understanding of APIs, plus how frontend and backend systems integrate
  • Ideally, working knowledge of C# and .NET, but not a requirement
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working well across teams
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude – comfortable with autonomy and ownership
  • Enthusiasm for learning, sharing knowledge and building in a growing environment

Key benefits:

  • Collaborative teams – a flat structure means everyone can learn from colleagues and senior leaders around the business.
  • Be involved – come together with all of your colleagues every 100 days to share the product and technology roadmap and business strategy.
  • Flexible working environment – we’re headquartered in North Sydney with state-based workplaces and offer a flexible work policy.
  • Family support – industry leading 26 weeks paid parental leave.
  • Purpose built spaces within our office – designed for collaboration, brainstorming, socialising, and focused work.
  • Range of benefits supporting your physical, psychological and financial wellbeing. From a day off on your birthday to excellent end of trip facilities.
