Your new role

As a BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data management, automation, and reporting solutions using the Microsoft BI stack. You will work within an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment to deliver trusted, standardised, and reliable workforce and operational reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and maintaining data models and automated reporting solutions within the EDW
• Developing high‑quality reports and dashboards using Power BI, including DAX and performance optimisation
• Building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar
• Supporting intergovernmental workforce collections and reporting outputs, including statutory and compliance reporting
• Integrating data from multiple sources, including APIs, legacy systems, and enterprise platforms
• Ensuring data governance, security, privacy, and audit requirements are met
• Partnering with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Contributing to the uplift of data maturity through standardised definitions, automation, and best practices

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Engineer in a large, complex environment
• Strong hands‑on experience with the Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory/SSIS)
• Advanced SQL development skills, including performance tuning and optimisation
• Experience developing and maintaining Enterprise Data Warehouses
• Strong capability in data modelling, quality assurance, and reporting standardisation
• Experience working with APIs and integrating disparate data sources
• A solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
• Experience working within structured delivery environments (Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2 or similar)
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (desirable)
