Your new role

This role provides senior specialist leadership across SharePoint Online and Microsoft Purview, with a clear mandate to reduce storage growth, improve information governance, and deliver sustainable platform outcomes. You will operate at an EL1‑equivalent level, partnering with platform owners and senior stakeholders to design and implement practical, defensible solutions.

What you’ll do

• Lead end‑to‑end analysis of SharePoint Online storage consumption across sites, libraries, versioning, retention, holds, and governance controls.
• Identify cost drivers, compliance risks, and growth patterns across a large SPO estate.
• Remediate legacy and current environments, including site sprawl, duplication, low‑value content, and retention misalignment.
• Design and document a fit‑for‑purpose information governance and storage model.
• Implement practical Microsoft Purview controls, including retention and sensitivity labels, records status, and holds.
• Develop prioritised optimisation roadmaps balancing cost, risk, compliance, and user impact.
• Influence senior stakeholders on trade‑offs, governance decisions, and sustainable behaviours.
• Produce clear, implementation‑ready technical documentation and operational guidance.
• Support evidence‑based decision‑making through analysis, reporting, and cost modelling.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Expert‑level SharePoint Online capability across administration, information architecture, permissions, governance, and versioning.
• Demonstrated experience optimising SharePoint Online at scale, with measurable storage or cost reductions.
• Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders on cost, risk, and compliance decisions.
• Proven delivery of SharePoint governance models supporting lifecycle management and disposal.

• Hands‑on Microsoft Purview experience, including retention and sensitivity labels and records management.
• Knowledge of federal government information and records management practices.
• Exposure to Power Platform governance in an enterprise environment.
