Your new role

As a Data Engineer, you will prepare raw data for analytical and operational use, ensuring it is accessible for optimisation, service delivery, and advanced analytics. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and cloud-based infrastructure to support enterprise-wide reporting, analytics, and governance.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders with varying levels of data literacy to ensure seamless data integration and high-quality outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong ETL development skills, experience with modern cloud data platforms, and a commitment to data quality, transparency, and continuous improvement. You will also mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data engineering and governance.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Generate and manage standardised reporting templates.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes for the organisation’s data warehouse.
  • Apply data quality checks and ensure schema compliance.
  • Collaborate with program teams and other stakeholders to implement template changes.
  • Support dashboards and reporting products for quarterly performance reviews.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Data engineering: Level 5 (SFIA) Plans and drives the development of data engineering solutions that balance functional and non-functional requirements. Monitors the application of data standards and architectures, including security and compliance. Contributes to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for data engineering.
  2. Data integrity and quality assurance: Level 2 (DCF) Can describe and produce data quality measures for their outputs. Has comprehensive knowledge of relevant data quality measures and uses them to assess data fitness-for-purpose, including trustworthiness and accuracy. Understands data integrity principles and practices and applies them to maintain organisational data integrity.
  3. Data modelling and design: Level 4 (SFIA) Investigates enterprise data requirements where complexity and ambiguity exist. Plans data modelling and design activities, selecting appropriate techniques and levels of detail. Provides advice and guidance to others on data structures and associated components.
  4. Database design: Level 4 (SFIA) Implements physical database designs to support transactional data requirements for performance and availability. Maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, and tools. Assesses proposed changes to data structures and evaluates alternative options. Implements data warehouse designs that support business intelligence and analytics needs.
