Data Engineer

Job Description

Your new role

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from various sources.
• Develop and manage data lakes and data warehouses for optimal performance and security
• Automate data ingestion and transformation for real-time and batch flows
• Implement data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation processes
• Establish monitoring and alerting systems for data quality issues
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and Architects to optimise data models and ensure governance compliance
• Provide technical support and maintain documentation for data systems
• Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and promote a strong data culture
• Travel to multiple sites (Broken Hill, Adelaide, Dominican Republic) for project work

What you’ll need to succeed

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in data engineering or similar role
• Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong proficiency in SQL and data warehousing concepts
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks
• Programming skills in Python or Java

Desirable:

• Experience in the mining or industrial sector
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
