Job Description

Responsibilities

• Build new WordPress sites from designs (Figma/Sketch/PSD) using themes or custom development.
• Customize themes and child themes; implement Gutenberg blocks or page builders (Elementor, WPBakery, Beaver Builder) as needed.
• Develop and maintain custom plugins or tweak existing plugins safely.
• Ensure sites are mobile-responsive, fast-loading, and search-friendly.
• Perform site migrations, plugin updates, and backups.
• Troubleshoot and fix front-end and back-end issues.
• Implement tracking (Google Analytics, Tag Manager) and basic on-site SEO best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers and designers; provide accurate time estimates.
• Write clean, documented code and follow version control (Git).

Required skills & experience

• 1+ year working with WordPress (theme and plugin customization).
• Strong HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+) skills.
• Comfortable with PHP and WordPress hooks/filters.
• Experience with responsive design and cross-browser testing.
• Familiarity with MySQL and basic server-side troubleshooting.
• Experience with Git or similar version control.
• Good written and spoken English; strong communication and time-management skills.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Shopify theme development (Liquid) — useful for hybrid projects.
• Familiarity with headless WordPress or modern JAMstack approaches.
• Experience with page builders (Elementor) and Gutenberg block development.
• Knowledge of security hardening, caching, and CDN configuration.
• Basic graphic skills (Canva/Photoshop) to make small visual edits.
