Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a WordPress Developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently on custom solutions. You should have a strong grasp of PHP, WordPress core, and database structure, and be comfortable building from scratch — not relying on page builders or bloated third-party themes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes from Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD designs (no prebuilt templates or Elementor).
  • Build and extend custom plugins that solve specific business logic, including admin dashboards, REST API integrations, and conditional functionality.
  • Optimize site performance (query optimization, caching strategies, asset minification) for Core Web Vitals compliance.
  • Implement headless WordPress setups when required (using WPGraphQL or REST API).
  • Write modular, reusable code with attention to security best practices (nonces, sanitization, escaping, etc.).
  • Configure and troubleshoot server environments (Apache/Nginx, PHP-FPM) and work with staging/production pipelines using Git.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to maintain visual accuracy and responsive behavior across breakpoints.
  • Audit legacy codebases and refactor to reduce technical debt without disrupting current workflows.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (including ES6+), and WordPress API.
  • Experience building custom Gutenberg blocks (React knowledge required).
  • Strong experience with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), CPT UI, and WP CLI.
  • Proficient in SCSS/SASS, Webpack/Vite, and task runners (npm/yarn).
  • Comfortable with Git (branching, rebasing, pull requests, code reviews).
  • Familiarity with DNS settings, SSL installations, and CDN configurations (e.g., Cloudflare).

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with WooCommerce customizations (not just setup).
  • Familiarity with automated testing (PHPUnit, Jest).
  • Knowledge of Docker or container-based local environments.
  • Contributions to the WordPress open-source project or plugin repository.
