Job Description

Position Summary

We’re looking for a hands-on Webmaster who can take full ownership of our web ecosystem—front-end, back-end, CMS, integrations, and all. You’ll be the key player in ensuring our primary website (and a few satellite ones) are not just operational, but performant, secure, optimized for SEO, and accessible across platforms. This role is ideal for someone who’s as comfortable configuring DNS records and setting up CDNs as they are customizing a WordPress theme or diagnosing why a page is taking 8 seconds to load.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Ownership: Maintain, update, and optimize our WordPress-based websites, including custom theme management, plugin vetting, and hosting environments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Use Lighthouse, Google Search Console, Cloudflare, and other tools to track uptime, crawl issues, and page performance—then fix what’s broken.
  • CMS Management: Train internal stakeholders to use the CMS efficiently while setting user roles, permissions, and guardrails to maintain structure and design consistency.
  • Dev/Content Bridge: Work closely with design, copywriting, and marketing teams to ensure content updates follow structural and SEO best practices.
  • Technical SEO & Schema: Implement and troubleshoot structured data (JSON-LD), sitemaps, redirects, canonical tags, and crawl directives.
  • Security & Compliance: Manage SSL certs, firewall configurations, backups, and core/plugin updates. Work with IT to monitor for and respond to threats.
  • Web Analytics Integration: Ensure Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager, and event tracking are properly deployed and capturing meaningful data.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years managing WordPress sites, including custom post types and ACF
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Experience configuring DNS, managing hosting (WP Engine, Kinsta, or equivalent), and deploying via Git
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and responsive design principles
  • Comfortable working with SEO tools like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Semrush
  • Experience with schema markup and structured data testing tools
  • Prior use of Cloudflare or similar for caching, DDoS mitigation, and CDN
  • Proficient in tools like Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, and GA4

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with headless CMS (e.g., WordPress + Gatsby or Next.js)
  • Working knowledge of Webflow or static site generators for microsites
  • Familiarity with API integrations (e.g., HubSpot forms, Salesforce data capture)
  • Basic scripting in Python or shell for automation

Soft Skills

  • Highly autonomous and accountable—this is not a “wait for tickets” role
  • Clear communicator who can explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • Process-driven but flexible when priorities shift
