Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-obsessed, technically proficient Webmaster to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise-level websites built primarily on a headless CMS architecture integrated with custom APIs. The ideal candidate is not only comfortable with code but understands how UX, SEO, accessibility, and uptime are mission-critical to a high-traffic digital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update web properties, including staging and production environments, ensuring all pages render correctly across platforms and browsers.
  • Implement and manage deployment workflows via Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to monitor site performance (Core Web Vitals), uptime (SLAs), and page speed optimization.
  • Manage DNS records, SSL certificate renewals, and CDN configurations (Cloudflare or equivalent).
  • Diagnose and resolve server-side errors, JS conflicts, redirect chains, and broken links using automated tools and manual testing.
  • Administer permissions, roles, and workflows in the CMS and DAM platforms (e.g., Contentful, Sanity, or similar).
  • Integrate third-party marketing and analytics tools (Tag Manager, GA4, Hotjar, HubSpot, etc.) and ensure their performance does not degrade page load.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines and work closely with QA and legal teams to audit for ADA risks.
  • Coordinate with front-end and back-end developers to roll out new features or troubleshoot unexpected regressions.
  • Document technical configurations, custom scripts, and key procedures in Confluence or internal wikis.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience managing production websites, ideally for organizations with over 100K monthly visitors.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and templating languages (e.g., Liquid, Handlebars).
  • Experience with one or more modern CMS platforms (e.g., Craft CMS, Contentful, WordPress with custom themes/plugins—not just page builders).
  • Familiarity with server-side technologies (Node.js, PHP, or Python) and how they interface with front-end assets.
  • Direct experience managing reverse proxies, load balancers, and CDN configurations.
  • Competent with web accessibility standards, structured data markup (JSON-LD), and SEO best practices for dynamic content.
  • Strong grasp of version control using Git, with the ability to resolve complex merge conflicts and understand branching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze server logs, monitor 404s/301s, and manage crawl budgets using tools like Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, or Ahrefs.
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments with ticketing tools like Jira or Linear.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly document workflows and communicate complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Jamstack architectures and deployment tools (e.g., Netlify, Vercel).
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL and REST API consumption.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS or e-commerce environments.
  • Familiarity with performance budgeting and observability platforms (e.g., New Relic, Datadog).
