Job Description

We’re looking for a Web Engineer who doesn’t just write code—they build fast, maintainable, and scalable web experiences that integrate deeply with backend systems, real-time data flows, and internal tooling. You’ll be working on a customer-facing platform used by thousands daily, with direct ownership over web performance, frontend architecture, and collaborative input into product design. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is deeply opinionated about modern web practices, and can ship high-quality features without relying on cookie-cutter frameworks.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional product team, working closely with designers, backend engineers, and DevOps to deliver seamless functionality across browsers and devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the frontend architecture for our core web application, with a focus on performance and maintainability.
  • Work with Product and Design to scope, prototype, and build user-facing features from scratch.
  • Build complex UI components and real-time interfaces (e.g., dashboards, analytics visualizations).
  • Optimize load time, time-to-interactive, and bundle size without sacrificing UX.
  • Integrate with GraphQL and REST APIs, and ensure data integrity in client-rendered views.
  • Contribute to internal component libraries, coding standards, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Lead technical decisions around SSR/SSG strategies, caching layers, and browser compatibility.
  • Write tests (unit, integration, and E2E) as part of the development process.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience building responsive, performant web applications.
  • Deep expertise in React (or equivalent modern JS frameworks), but more importantly: understanding of the DOM, browser behavior, and rendering lifecycle.
  • Experience with build tools like Webpack, Vite, or esbuild, and solid understanding of how bundling affects runtime performance.
  • Strong background in Typescript and typed APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with design systems or component libraries (e.g., Storybook, Tailwind, Radix).
  • Familiarity with backend APIs, and comfort debugging full-stack issues (networking, auth, data flow).
  • Strong sense of ownership—able to lead initiatives and push features from idea to deployment.
  • GitHub or portfolio with examples of projects that show technical depth and clarity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SSR (Next.js, Remix) and edge deployments (Vercel, Cloudflare).
  • Contributions to open source frontend libraries or developer tooling.
  • Experience working with real-time data (WebSockets, PubSub, polling strategies).
  • Familiarity with accessibility (a11y) and internationalization best practices.
