Job Description
Role Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and technically proficient Web Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our web infrastructure. This role goes beyond basic website updates—you will be responsible for server configuration, uptime assurance, DNS and SSL management, CMS optimization, deployment pipelines, and ensuring web compliance with accessibility and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Server Management:
Configure, monitor, and maintain LAMP/LEMP stacks, including PHP version control, nginx/apache tuning, and firewall rules. - CMS Oversight (WordPress & Drupal):
Manage multi-site environments, custom themes, plugin integrity (review & vetting), and staging/production sync workflows. - Version Control & Deployment:
Handle Git-based deployment workflows using GitHub/GitLab CI/CD pipelines or shell scripts; maintain rollback strategies. - Security & Compliance:
Enforce SSL/TLS policies, manage certificates, monitor intrusion attempts, and ensure compliance with OWASP and WCAG 2.1 AA. - Performance Monitoring:
Audit and address Core Web Vitals issues, manage caching layers (e.g., Varnish, Redis), and fine-tune CDN rules (Cloudflare preferred). - Incident Response & Recovery:
Lead investigation and recovery from website outages, malware attacks, or performance regressions. - DNS & Domain Management:
Configure DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SPF, DKIM) and coordinate domain renewals with registrar platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience managing public-facing production websites, preferably in mid-to-large scale environments (5k+ daily users).
- Strong command-line skills on Linux systems; comfortable writing shell scripts.
- Deep knowledge of CMS architecture (e.g., WP-CLI, Drupal Drush), custom module/plugin troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of HTTP headers, caching strategies, and reverse proxies.
- Familiarity with structured error logging tools (e.g., New Relic, Sentry, Graylog).
- Demonstrated experience in configuring CI/CD pipelines and automating deploys.
- Experience with DNS providers like Cloudflare, Route 53, or DNS Made Easy.
- Evidence of maintaining site security standards (e.g., logs of handled vulnerabilities, clean-up documentation, etc.).
- Strong documentation habits, especially around access controls and deployment procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Linux+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Acquia Certified Drupal Site Builder).
- Familiarity with headless CMS environments or JAMstack architecture.
- Understanding of legal requirements related to digital accessibility (Section 508, ADA).
- Experience collaborating with front-end developers and UX designers to maintain consistent rollout cycles.
