Job Description
We’re seeking a Web Administrator to take ownership of our organization’s internal and external web environments, ensuring they are secure, up-to-date, and fully optimized for performance. This is not a content publishing or design-only role — we need someone comfortable managing server-side configurations, CMS architecture, deployment pipelines, and access control. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, cybersecurity analysts, and business units to maintain high service uptime while proactively improving how our web systems operate and scale.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on bridging IT operations with modern web technologies — someone who knows why caching rules matter, why PHP updates can’t be skipped, and why a misconfigured CDN can ruin user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal), including plugin/module vetting, updates, and patching
- Manage hosting infrastructure (AWS Lightsail, Azure Web Apps, or traditional LAMP stacks) and handle DNS routing, SSL certificates, and deployment workflows
- Configure, monitor, and improve web application firewalls (WAF), content delivery networks (CDN), and reverse proxies
- Implement and enforce user access controls, SSO integrations, and logging policies across web systems
- Track performance metrics and execute optimizations related to load time, server response, and uptime
- Work with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and ensure safe code deployments
- Collaborate with information security on regular audits and apply remediations related to OWASP vulnerabilities
- Maintain staging and production environments, manage rollbacks and backups, and write runbooks for emergency recovery
- Coordinate with content and design teams to troubleshoot rendering or functionality issues related to plugin conflicts or theme updates
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience managing enterprise web platforms and underlying infrastructure
- Proficiency in web server technologies (Apache, Nginx), database management (MySQL, MariaDB), and DNS configuration
- Working knowledge of CMS architecture and file system-level troubleshooting (e.g., wp-config, .htaccess, template hierarchies)
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Bitbucket Pipelines
- Strong grasp of web security practices, including SSL, CSP headers, and rate limiting
- Familiarity with log analysis tools (e.g., Loggly, Graylog, or ELK stack)
Preferred
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and basic scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with automated testing tools for web performance and security
- Certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or GIAC Web Application Defender (GWEB)
