Job Description

We’re looking for a Visual Illustrator who sees illustration not as decoration but as strategic storytelling. This role is for someone who can work across product, editorial, and branding, adapting their visual language to enhance clarity, tone, and intent without sacrificing originality. You should thrive in ambiguity, love concepting from scratch, and feel at home working with cross-functional teams where your visual thinking helps solve real communication problems.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of designers, content strategists, and product thinkers working on everything from data-rich product illustrations to playful, thought-provoking editorial campaigns. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of composition and gesture, can simplify complexity, and knows when to be expressive and when to be quiet.

Responsibilities:

  • Create illustrations that explain, delight, or guide — often all three.
  • Collaborate with product designers, writers, and brand designers to bring ideas to life with precision and emotion.
  • Translate abstract or technical ideas into digestible visuals for interfaces, onboarding, empty states, blog posts, and campaigns.
  • Contribute to and evolve a flexible illustration system that can adapt to different user needs and contexts.
  • Present and articulate visual concepts to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
  • Manage feedback loops with grace and clarity, knowing how to defend, revise, or let go of ideas when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in illustration, ideally in a fast-paced product or editorial environment.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates range, intentionality, and the ability to adapt style for different contexts.
  • Proficiency in vector-based tools (e.g., Figma, Illustrator) and raster workflows (e.g., Photoshop, Procreate).
  • Strong understanding of how illustration functions within UX, not just marketing.
  • Experience with motion graphics or working alongside motion designers is a plus.
  • Ability to take complex narratives or data sets and shape them into clear, intuitive visuals.
  • Comfortable contributing to design systems and scalable visual libraries.
  • Self-directed but highly collaborative — you think in terms of systems, not just one-offs.
