Job Description

As the Vice President of Engineering, you’ll lead the engineering organization and be responsible for overall product delivery, technical direction, and team performance. You’ll work directly with the CEO to shape technology strategy and support the company’s next phase of growth.

You’ll manage a distributed team of engineers, overseeing development across the full technology stack and ensuring the reliability and quality of the platform.

The client is a fully distributed company. This role is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership: End-to-end responsibility for the design, development, and delivery of the company’s full suite of web and mobile applications.
  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of engineers across software development, DevOps, QA, Design, and Product. Direct reports include Engineering Managers and Team Leads.
  • Performance: Drive continuous improvement through strong engineering practices, including code reviews, retrospectives, and clear performance management.
  • Hiring: Own engineering hiring strategy, including attracting, onboarding, and developing high-performing talent.
  • Strategy: Reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Executive Team to define technical direction, set product roadmap, and align Engineering to business goals.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: B.S. Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience: 5+ years of success managing and scaling software engineering teams..

Skills

  • Microsoft Stack: Experience with ASP.NET, .NET Core, and building scalable, API-driven applications within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Web Stack: Familiarity with JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, REST APIs, and front-end technologies.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong understanding of Azure services, including App Services, cloud hosting, identity (Azure AD), and modern platform architecture.
  • Systems: Experience managing and securing Windows-based environments, including servers, IIS, and core infrastructure.
  • Backend: Solid experience with SQL Server and cloud-based database solutions.
  • Security: Working knowledge of core security practices, including access control, patching, SSL, and enterprise-grade protection.
  • Identity: Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) and authentication frameworks.
