Job Description

We are seeking a VFX Artist with a strong artistic eye and a sharp technical edge to join our post-production team on high-concept narrative projects. This role is not about polishing particles in stock templates — it’s for someone who thrives in the space between creative experimentation and pipeline efficiency. You’ll be responsible for developing original visual effects that amplify the story, from surreal atmospheric enhancements to seamless digital set extensions. You’ll collaborate closely with directors, editors, and 3D teams to translate complex ideas into striking visuals that hold up under scrutiny — frame by frame.

This position is ideal for someone who knows how to push creative limits without compromising realism or project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute complex visual effects including digital environments, fire, smoke, debris, water simulations, and compositing.
  • Integrate CG elements into live-action footage using 2D and 3D tracking, rotoscoping, and matte painting.
  • Collaborate with the director and post team to develop a visual language that supports the narrative and tone.
  • Optimize effects for performance and render efficiency within project deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific scripts and templates for common tasks to accelerate the workflow.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline bottlenecks and propose scalable solutions.
  • Create technical documentation for proprietary setups or unusual effects sequences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in VFX for film, television, or high-end commercials.
  • Expert proficiency in Nuke, with solid experience in After Effects, Houdini, and/or Maya for simulation and 3D integration.
  • Demonstrated experience with shot-based compositing, not just motion graphics or FX overlays.
  • Strong understanding of color space, camera lenses, and photorealistic lighting.
  • Proficient in Python or expression-based scripting for pipeline automation is a plus.
  • Ability to work from minimal supervision and translate creative briefs into fully realized sequences.
  • Comfortable giving and receiving critique — you iterate with intention, not ego.
  • A reel that shows before/after breakdowns and explains your specific contributions per shot.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine for virtual production or real-time FX.
  • Familiarity with VFX budgeting or asset management tools like ShotGrid.
  • Previous work on stylized effects or hybrid animation/live-action projects.
