Job Description
We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer who treats design as a form of problem-solving and prototyping as a language. You’ll join a cross-functional team of product managers, developers, and researchers to design interfaces for internal tools used by data scientists and analysts across the company. This isn’t a role where you’ll be crafting marketing pages or polishing mobile app buttons. We need someone who’s excited by systems, thrives on ambiguity, and can translate complex workflows into interfaces that reduce friction and make sense to power users.
Your work will directly impact how we make decisions across engineering, strategy, and operations. If you’ve ever designed tools for people who live in spreadsheets, this is your arena.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to map out user flows for high-complexity, high-density interfaces
- Lead the design of dashboards, data visualization components, and custom workflows with a focus on utility and clarity
- Create and maintain design systems tailored for enterprise tools and power users
- Facilitate quick-turn usability testing and integrate findings into design iterations
- Advocate for user needs in roadmap discussions, even when they compete with business priorities
- Work with developers to ensure final builds reflect design intent down to interaction details and edge cases
- Challenge assumptions and rewrite problem statements when needed to uncover the right design solution
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience designing tools, dashboards, or workflow-heavy products (internal tools a plus)
- Proven ability to work with ambiguity and design solutions for non-standard user problems
- Portfolio that shows examples of interface thinking for complex systems or data-heavy applications
- Strong understanding of layout, hierarchy, and interaction design—especially for desktop environments
- Experience building or contributing to component-based design systems (Figma experience required)
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and front-end frameworks; you don’t need to code, but you should understand constraints
- Experience collaborating with engineers during handoff and throughout development
- Excellent communication skills—you should be able to explain your design decisions to both designers and non-designers alike
Nice to Have
- Background in data visualization, statistical tools, or interfaces used by technical users (e.g., analysts, scientists)
- Comfort running light user research on tight timelines (surveys, interviews, think-aloud sessions)
- Prior experience at a startup or mid-stage company where you wore multiple hats
