Job Description
Role Summary
We’re seeking a UX Researcher with a proven track record in uncovering usability barriers in data-dense environments and complex workflows. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to shape user experiences for professionals who rely on high-stakes, high-frequency digital tools. This role is not about general usability testing — it’s about dissecting cognitive loads, workflow friction, and decision-making patterns in expert user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end research on products with layered functionality, nested navigation, and power-user expectations.
- Design mixed-method studies to evaluate how users interact with intricate interfaces involving dashboards, filters, time-series data, or multistep configurations.
- Build research roadmaps that prioritize measurable UX risks in early-stage development, not just at validation.
- Work directly with product and engineering teams to translate research insights into interaction logic, not just visual design recommendations.
- Develop UX personas grounded in domain knowledge, not marketing demographics — especially in fields like finance, engineering, logistics, or enterprise SaaS.
- Present findings with clarity and precision, using frameworks that inform both immediate design choices and long-term product strategy.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of UX research experience, including at least 2 years focused on products with complex workflows or technical user bases.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct deep contextual inquiry in environments where users are domain experts (e.g., traders, analysts, operators).
- Proficiency with research tools beyond surveys and usability tests — including diary studies, log analysis for behavior modeling, and moderated task dissection.
- Experience writing research plans that account for edge cases, non-linear user paths, and varied levels of system expertise.
- Ability to communicate research findings in a structured format suitable for product requirement documents and agile development cycles.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, especially in environments with frequent iteration and technical constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic background or hands-on experience in cognitive psychology, human factors, or HCI for technical systems.
- Familiarity with industry-specific compliance, security, or operational contexts that impact UX (e.g., auditability, latency sensitivity).
- Experience working in B2B platforms, enterprise software, or internal tooling with measurable KPIs tied to efficiency and error reduction.
- Comfort using behavioral analytics platforms (e.g., Mixpanel, Heap, Amplitude) to supplement qualitative insights.
