Job Description
Job Purpose :
The UI Architect will define and drive the user interface architecture strategy across digital platforms. The role requires strong collaboration with product teams, UX designers, and engineering groups to build scalable, high-performance, and visually cohesive user interfaces. The UI Architect ensures intuitive, accessible, and responsive experiences that support business goals and modern design standards.
Key Responsibilities :
– Define UI architecture, frontend strategy, and technology direction for large-scale applications.
– Develop reusable component libraries, design systems, and coding standards for frontend teams.
– Select, evaluate, and implement modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) and tooling ecosystems.
– Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to frontend engineers.
– Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate design concepts into efficient implementations.
– Review codebases, conduct performance audits, and drive UI optimization and refactoring.
– Ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines (WCAG), responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
– Integrate frontend layers with backend services, REST APIs, GraphQL, and microservices.
– Maintain architectural documentation : component structures, state management flows, integration guidelines, etc.
– Conduct design and code reviews to enforce UI architectural principles and best practices.
– Lead performance optimization efforts using Lighthouse, Chrome DevTools, WebPageTest, etc.
– Implement caching strategies, lazy loading, tree-shaking, and modular bundling.
– Promote frontend security practices (CSP, secure authentication flows, XSS protection).
– Present UI architecture roadmaps and technology recommendations to senior leadership.
– Coordinate with third-party vendors ensuring alignment with enterprise UI standards.
– Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to align technical strategy with business requirements.
– Stay updated with industry UI trends, frameworks, performance techniques, and emerging tools.
Qualifications :
– Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or related field.
– 1015 years of total experience, including 5+ years as a UI Architect or Lead Frontend Engineer.
– Deep knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), HTML5, CSS3, and state management (Redux, Zustand, Vuex, NgRx).
– Experience with design systems, Storybook, Figma, and CSS preprocessors (SASS, LESS).
– Strong expertise in responsive UI, accessibility (WCAG), cross-browser support, and progressive enhancement.
– Hands-on experience with frontend testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
– Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for frontend projects and version control (Git).
– Experience in frontend performance optimization and debugging.
– Good knowledge of cloud-based UI deployment (AWS Amplify, Netlify, Vercel).
– Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
– Certifications in frontend development or UI/UX design are an added advantage.
– Knowledge of intermodal systems (if applicable) is a plus.
