Your new role

This is a technical lead position where you will drive power systems and grid connection activities across complex renewable projects. You will act as a subject-matter expert and technical lead, guiding project delivery, influencing stakeholders, and supporting engineering best practice across the business.

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring project success from a grid compliance and power systems perspective, working closely with internal teams, clients and network service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead power systems studies to define generator performance standards for wind, solar and hybrid projects
• Act as the technical lead for grid connection and modelling deliverables across multiple projects
• Perform and review modelling using PSCAD, PSS/E and PowerFactory
• Develop and review control systems, plant performance and reactive power requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers (no direct reports)
• Review balance of plant designs to ensure compliance with grid codes and standards
• Manage and deliver grid connection documentation to a high technical standard
• Engage with AEMO, network service providers and stakeholders, presenting study outcomes
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues through detailed analysis

What you’ll need to succeed

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems specialisation preferred)
• Strong experience in grid connection and power systems modelling within renewables or utilities
• Advanced capability in PSCAD, PSS/E and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• Strong understanding of Australian grid codes and system strength challenges
• Experience across technologies such as wind, solar, BESS or hybrid systems
• Ability to lead technical delivery and influence stakeholders without formal line management
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
