The Role
With a diverse collective of peers and skillsets the Perth office has a great mix of z/OS experts, UI/UX engineers, QA analysts, as well as automation and translation specialists, we are looking to bring on board additional mainframe development experts to assist with product development.
21CS is seeking a skilled z/OS software developer who can work as part of a team using modern development methods that stress collaboration, transparency, focus on customer value and constant improvement. This role collaborates in design and code functionality for enterprise-level products that meet business and customer requirements. The Software Developer will perform code modification, analysis, testing, and debugging tasks as well as provide input related to product futures. Strong z/OS skills and a passion for learning are necessary to accomplish company and personal goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Developing high-quality, efficient code in Mainframe environments.
- Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior team members.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of software development processes and practices.
- Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying them to enhance our products.
This position requires strong analytical skills, a commitment to teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will play a key role in ensuring our software solutions meet the needs of our clients in critical sectors such as finance, healthcare, and government.
Required Skills
- Senior experience in Mainframe (z/OS) development
- A comprehensive understanding of ISPF, JCL and IBM utilities
- Experience with SQL
- Candidate should be self-organized, have a strong sense of analysis & troubleshooting skills, and ability to take the lead in problem solving and delivery of development items
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Skills
- Systems Programming experience
- Assembler, C/C++, REXX, ISPF dialog development
- Experience with Db2
- Web/UI integration experience with z/OS products
