This is a unique opportunity to design, develop, and implement robust software solutions that will allow us to rapidly prototype and pilot emerging energy technologies.

You’ll be responsible for assessing the technical viability of new solutions and converting technical trial data into clear, commercially relevant insights. This role is ideal for a developer with an independent, analytical, and insightful mindset who thrives on solving complex problems.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and implement software solutions and API integrations to prototype and pilot emerging technologies.
• Assess the technical viability of proposed solutions to inform strategic business initiatives.
• Proactively identify and assess new vendor solutions, open-source projects, and API standards to gain a competitive advantage in our strategic focus areas (VPPs, EVs and Batteries).
• Convert technical trial outcomes and data into clear, commercially relevant insights to inform business cases.
• Manage and analyse trial data using your understanding of SQL, databases, and data pipelines.

What we’re looking for:

• This role is focused on your ability to deliver and your problem-solving capability, not just your years of experience.
• We are looking for someone with an independent, analytical, and insightful mindset who is highly self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously.
• A degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced expertise in Java (or JVM languages) or Python.
• A comprehensive understanding of data technologies (SQL, databases, data modeling, and data pipelines).
• Thorough knowledge of web applications, including REST/GraphQL and streaming APIs, plus security best practices.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud/compute infrastructure, containerization, and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and provide effective oversight of vendor technical teams.
