Senior Product Design Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Proven experience within the fenestration industry is essential
• 5+ years’ experience in Product Design, Industrial Design or Mechanical Design Engineering
• Strong knowledge of aluminium window and door systems, glazing products, curtain walls, skylights or related building products
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related discipline
• Advanced 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar)
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, including aluminium extrusion, fabrication and assembly
• Experience leading products through the complete development lifecycle from concept through to manufacture
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations and commercial teams
• A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement

 
The Senior Product Design Engineer role will involve:

• Leading the design and development of innovative products from concept through to production
• Driving new product development projects
• Producing detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings and engineering documentation
• Working closely with manufacturing teams to optimise designs for efficient production and assembly
• Supporting product testing, validation and compliance activities
• Managing engineering changes, product improvements and technical documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Collaborating with suppliers to source and develop new components and materials
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate
• Working alongside cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Procurement and Sales to successfully deliver new products
• Contributing to the company’s ongoing product development strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
