Job Description
About the role
Were hiring two Senior Java API Developers to join a key project in the financial products space, specifically focused on life insurance enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring strong Java and Spring Boot skills, along with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.
This is an existing solution with clear architecture in place, so we’re looking for developers who can hit the ground running, collaborate confidently with third-party stakeholders, and help us drive the next phase of delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, secure RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build efficient backend services and microservices with Java, ensuring performance and maintainability.
- Implement API standards, versioning, and integration best practices.
- Ensure API security using OAuth2, JWT, and API gateways.
- Optimize application performance and troubleshoot system issues across environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum settings.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and solution designs.
- Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews.
- Support CI/CD deployment pipelines using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and ensure compliance with quality and security standards.
Essential requirements
- A minimum of 6+ years’ experience as a Java Developer, ideally in enterprise or financial services environments
- Deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams and navigating external dependencies with third parties
- Working knowledge of Kafka (basic is fine you don’t need to be an expert)
- Previous exposure to life insurance or broader financial services products
- Familiarity with automation frameworks (while you won’t maintain them, you’ll need to use existing ones for functional testing)
- Comfort working in a regulated or compliance-focused environment
- Passion for continuous learning and a strong drive to grow capabilities in AI and emerging technologies.
