Senior Engineering Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop software engineering teams.
• Establish clear goals, ownership, accountability, and engineering best practices.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching, and career-development discussions.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and development of engineering talent.
• Drive effective planning, prioritization, and timely delivery of engineering initiatives.
• Improve development processes, team collaboration, and engineering productivity.
• Promote effective use of AI-assisted development and automation across the software development lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and participate in architecture and system-design discussions.
• Ensure high standards for software quality, scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Partner closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and business teams.
• Provide clear visibility into engineering priorities, progress, dependencies, and risks.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• 8+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams.
• Strong experience with performance management, hiring, mentoring, and team development.
• Strong technical foundation in modern web and cloud application development.
• Experience with Node.js, React.js, Express.js, MongoDB and/or similar technologies.
• Experience with AWS, databases, APIs, CI/CD, and modern software-development practices.
• Understanding of AI-assisted software development and engineering automation.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to balance people leadership, technical quality, and business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering teams in SaaS or product-based technology companies.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to mobile application development.
• Experience using AI development tools to improve engineering productivity.
