Senior DevOps Engineer – EL1 Equivalent

Your new role

As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer (EL1 equivalent), you will play a key role in uplifting secure DevOps capability across a large scale transformation program. Working within a multidisciplinary team and alongside an external delivery partner, you will design, build and support enterprise grade DevSecOps tooling across cloud, on premise and high performance computing environments.

This is not a run of the mill DevOps role. You will contribute to the development of secure, production ready CI/CD pipelines, hardened container solutions and reusable engineering patterns that directly support 24×7 operational systems. You will also influence engineering practices across multiple teams, driving adoption of modern development standards, automation and continuous improvement.

Key elements of the role include:

• Designing and implementing secure CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and YAML
• Developing automation and tooling in Python and Bash
• Supporting integrations across complex enterprise, cloud and HPC environments
• Troubleshooting and resolving high level technical issues across DevSecOps platforms
• Collaborating with engineers, architects and researchers to enable scalable delivery
• Driving uplift in software engineering practices including testing, code review and release management
• Contributing to governance, ITIL aligned processes and operational excellence

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful, you will bring a strong blend of engineering depth and collaborative mindset, with the ability to operate in secure and highly technical environments.

You will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a senior DevOps or DevSecOps role within complex environments
• Strong capability across Linux, APIs, web services, Python and Bash scripting
• Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab CI, including YAML configuration
• Experience working across cloud platforms such as AWS and enterprise tooling ecosystems
• Familiarity with containerisation and secure build practices
• Exposure to HPC environments or highly regulated infrastructure would be highly regarded
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices including Agile delivery
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non technical stakeholders
• Experience working with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
