Job Description
Role Summary
We are looking for a highly analytical and delivery-focused Scrum Master with proven experience supporting cross-functional software teams in complex enterprise environments. This role is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can push teams toward incremental delivery with measurable outcomes, and understands the difference between “doing agile” and “being agile.”
The Scrum Master will be responsible for one or two product delivery teams focused on cloud-native application development using microservices, infrastructure-as-code, and event-driven architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide Scrum teams through sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily standups — not just scheduling but actively coaching and driving focus on delivery commitments.
- Partner with Product Owners to refine backlog items into clearly scoped deliverables with testable outcomes and clear business value.
- Remove organizational, technical, or interpersonal blockers that delay delivery, escalating as needed with context and recommended action.
- Use flow metrics (e.g., cycle time, throughput, WIP) and forecasting techniques (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations) to facilitate planning and predict delivery timelines.
- Conduct value stream mapping sessions to uncover bottlenecks across teams and systems.
- Coach teams on applying empirical process control and systems thinking, particularly in fast-changing requirements environments.
- Work with Release Engineering and DevOps to support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices and deployment cadence.
- Lead agile maturity assessments and develop team-specific enablement plans.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a technical product development setting (not marketing, business ops, or content teams).
- Demonstrated ability to support distributed teams and navigate time zone complexity across North America and Europe.
- Deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks — including practical experience adapting frameworks to fit delivery needs.
- Strong grasp of Agile metrics and data tools (e.g., Jira dashboards, ActionableAgile, EazyBI).
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, GitOps practices, and modern development toolchains (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Kubernetes).
- Experience working in regulatory or compliance-heavy environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, or energy).
- Comfortable facilitating conflict resolution and giving direct, actionable feedback to team members and stakeholders alike.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced CSM, or equivalent; SAFe certification a plus.
