Job Description
Role Summary
We’re looking for a Scrum Master who doesn’t just “facilitate ceremonies,” but actively challenges team inertia, coaches PO maturity, and defends Agile principles under pressure. You’ll serve two cross-functional product teams focused on modernizing our digital onboarding flow and enhancing our B2B partner portal.
This is not a checkbox Agile environment. We value strategic thinkers who can influence at the team and leadership level, especially when delivery urgency threatens agile discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Ownership: Guide two established Agile teams with complex stakeholder landscapes and independent delivery cycles.
- Facilitate Beyond Rituals: Run sprint ceremonies, yes—but more importantly, diagnose anti-patterns and intervene constructively.
- Product Owner Coaching: Act as a sounding board for PO backlog strategy, slicing, and prioritization trade-offs.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies proactively, especially during PI planning and cross-stream releases.
- Agile Health Tracking: Maintain visibility on team throughput, blockers, and morale without falling into vanity metrics.
- Protect the Framework: Push back on scope creep, rushed timelines, or “just this once” waterfall asks—even from leadership.
- Adapt Process Thoughtfully: Know when to hold the framework and when to flex it without compromising Agile intent.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years as a dedicated Scrum Master supporting at least 2 Agile teams concurrently.
- Strong familiarity with back-end + front-end delivery cycles—you should understand API dependencies and CI/CD rhythms.
- Experienced with non-SaaS agile delivery, ideally with internal tooling or B2B platforms.
- Confident leading Agile transformation moments: not “doing Agile,” but helping others become Agile.
- Familiar with Jira, Miro, and Confluence—but more importantly, not overly reliant on them to manage process.
- Experience facilitating agile ceremonies with remote/hybrid teams where passive participation is a risk.
- Evidence of standing up to delivery pressure and preserving sustainable pace and team autonomy.
Nice-to-Have
- Certification (CSM, PSM) is good—but evidence of impact trumps credentials.
- Prior experience in financial services or insurance is a plus, especially in regulated delivery environments.
- Exposure to Lean Product or Dual-Track Agile approaches is helpful.
- Background in coaching Product Owners or junior Scrum Masters.
