Job Overview:
We are seeking a Responsive Web Design Specialist who deeply understands how design adapts across devices, platforms, and viewports. This role demands expertise in crafting layout systems that maintain design integrity and functionality from 320px to 1440px and beyond. You will work closely with developers, UX researchers, and content strategists to implement adaptive UI solutions that load fast, look sharp, and behave predictably on any screen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain responsive layout systems using CSS Grid, Flexbox, and container queries (not just media queries).
  • Translate high-fidelity designs into accessible, scalable front-end code using semantic HTML5 and modular CSS/SASS.
  • Design and test components in multiple breakpoints with tools like Storybook or similar.
  • Audit and optimize pages for responsive performance metrics (FCP, CLS, TTI) across device types using Lighthouse or WebPageTest.
  • Implement accessibility-aware designs (WCAG 2.1 AA+) that behave consistently with keyboard navigation and screen readers across responsive states.
  • Collaborate with dev teams to ensure pixel-consistent renderings across mobile, tablet, and desktop resolutions without relying on fixed units.
  • Create Figma component libraries or design tokens that reflect a mobile-first, fluid layout philosophy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing and implementing responsive websites or web apps.
  • Demonstrated mastery of CSS Grid and Flexbox for layout — not just utility classes from frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of viewport units, aspect-ratio, clamp(), and container-based design techniques.
  • Experience with component-driven development workflows using tools like Figma, Storybook, and Git.
  • Comfortable debugging layout issues across modern browsers using DevTools’ responsive mode.
  • Clear understanding of image optimization strategies (e.g., srcset, <picture>, AVIF/WebP fallback) for performance on responsive screens.
  • Prior experience in creating accessible, keyboard-navigable interfaces that retain structure across screen sizes.
