Job Description
We’re looking for a Packaging Designer who thinks beyond the box—literally. You’ll work closely with our Brand, Product, and Sustainability teams to conceptualize and produce packaging that doesn’t just look great on shelves but also aligns with functionality, supply chain efficiency, and environmental responsibility. From dieline development and material sourcing to unboxing experience and regulatory compliance, you’ll own the full packaging lifecycle across our consumer product lines.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid world of industrial design and visual storytelling. You should be able to take vague ideas, translate them into physical mockups, and iterate based on manufacturing constraints and retail compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop retail and e-commerce packaging solutions from concept to production.
- Create dielines, mockups, and final artwork using CAD tools and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Collaborate with print vendors and manufacturers to ensure design fidelity, material feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Balance aesthetics with practical considerations like stackability, durability, and shelf presence.
- Incorporate sustainability strategies into packaging designs (e.g., recyclable materials, minimal waste).
- Conduct physical testing (drop, crush, climate) and adjust designs accordingly.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labeling requirements (e.g., FDA, ASTM, or Prop 65 compliance depending on product category).
- Lead packaging innovation research and competitor benchmarking.
- Partner with the marketing team to ensure packaging aligns with overall brand guidelines and campaign goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience specifically in packaging design, preferably for consumer products or CPG brands.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and CAD software like ArtiosCAD, Esko Studio, or SolidWorks.
- Experience working directly with packaging suppliers and an understanding of offset, flexo, and digital printing processes.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable materials and eco-friendly packaging practices.
- Familiarity with logistics constraints, including palletization, container optimization, and retail compliance.
- Excellent sketching and prototyping skills (physical and digital).
- Detail-oriented with a solid understanding of packaging regulations and labeling requirements.
- A portfolio that showcases structural innovation and brand cohesion in packaging.
