Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to manage and optimize our hybrid network infrastructure, which supports both legacy Layer 2 VLANs and modern Layer 3 segmentation across multiple campuses and cloud services. This role requires a strong focus on high availability, network security, and traffic optimization, particularly in Cisco and Palo Alto environments. You will be responsible for not only uptime, but also strategic improvements to performance bottlenecks and root-cause troubleshooting of network anomalies affecting real-time services like VoIP and video conferencing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and optimize a mixed-vendor network infrastructure, including Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Palo Alto NGFWs, and Ubiquiti/Unifi wireless systems.
  • Perform deep packet analysis using tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, and NetFlow analyzers to resolve intermittent latency and application dropouts.
  • Manage and refine dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP) and failover strategies across multi-site WAN links, ensuring sub-10-second recovery during outages.
  • Enforce and audit 802.1X authentication, NAC policies, and role-based VLAN assignments using Cisco ISE and Active Directory integration.
  • Monitor and maintain SD-WAN connectivity and cloud interconnects (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute).
  • Create and maintain detailed network topology diagrams, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity team to design and enforce micro-segmentation policies and contain zero-day threats at the network level.
  • Plan and execute after-hours firmware upgrades, zero-downtime switch stack replacements, and emergency hotfix rollouts as needed.
  • Provide L3 support for escalated helpdesk issues involving complex network behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in complex enterprise network environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco CLI, Layer 3 switch configurations, and site-to-site VPNs.
  • Solid understanding of IPv6 deployment and dual-stack coexistence in enterprise networks.
  • Strong command of network logging, SNMPv3, syslog, and proactive alerting systems.
  • Comfortable working in mission-critical environments with low fault tolerance.
