Job Description

We’re seeking a Network Administrator who thrives in complex, mixed-environment infrastructures. This is not a checkbox role. You’ll be managing segmented networks, tightening firewall rulesets, and proactively preventing performance bottlenecks before users even notice. If you’re the kind of person who sets up syslog and SNMP traps because it bothers you not to, you’ll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and optimize multi-site network topology, including VLAN configurations, trunking, and inter-VLAN routing across Cisco and Ubiquiti hardware.
  • Oversee and continually refine firewall policies (Palo Alto and pfSense) to maintain tight security postures without strangling operational efficiency.
  • Administer site-to-site VPNs and redundant internet uplinks with dynamic failover using BGP and OSPF.
  • Monitor traffic flow with NetFlow and sFlow, and make data-driven changes to balance load and reduce latency.
  • Troubleshoot chronic Layer 2/Layer 3 issues (loop detection, DHCP snooping, ARP poisoning) with precision and minimal user disruption.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to support containerized services requiring network isolation and custom ingress policies.
  • Perform monthly configuration backups, change documentation, and rollback testing in a Git-based infrastructure repo.

You Should Have:

  • 3+ years hands-on experience managing hybrid enterprise networks (cloud + on-prem), preferably in a high-uptime environment (99.99% or better).
  • Deep familiarity with enterprise switch and router configuration (Cisco IOS/NX-OS, HP Aruba CLI).
  • Comfort scripting in Bash and Python to automate configuration audits and bulk changes.
  • Proven ability to perform packet captures (Wireshark/tcpdump) and make accurate diagnosis under time pressure.
  • Experience designing and enforcing NAC (802.1X) and zero trust segmentation.
  • Understanding of wireless design principles (AP placement, channel overlap, mesh stability) with real-world tuning experience.

Bonus if You Have:

  • Certifications like CCNP, PCNSE, or AWS Advanced Networking – we care more about skills than paper, but it tells us something.
  • Experience with NMS platforms (PRTG, LibreNMS, or NetBox) and integrating them with alerting/incident response tools.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN architecture and practical implementation experience.
  • Been the one who traced a persistent IP conflict back to a smart TV someone plugged into a production VLAN.
