About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced full-stack developer with a minimum of 5 years experience in both frontend development and some backend experience. You will report to one of our co-founders and work as part of a small team with a Project Manager, a Tech Lead and 1-2 other developers doing equal parts creating new products for clients trying to change the world and tackling the backlog for our existing client portfolio. We are building modern, accessible, responsive cloud-based digital products. We use frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, React-native and Angular and backend ones such as Java Spring Boot or NodeJS.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build responsive, performant full stack web applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular, Java, Node.js, etc.)
• Jump in, work things out with informal processes
• Wrangle CSS and/or JS to get it working as needed
• Have a reasonable go at tasks without much hand holding
• Write clean, well-designed, maintainable and scalable code
• Ensure solutions are secure, performant, and ready for deployment to production environments
• Ask for help when it will speed things along
• Ensure software is tested, secure and production ready
• Recommend ways to make the design more interactive and/or engaging
• Work collaboratively with a small team to have huge impact
• Provide help and support to other team members
• Remain up-to-date with terminology, concepts and best practices
• Identify technical and process improvements to help us deliver faster with higher quality

Essential Selection Criteria:

• 5+ years developing engaging and interactive HTML CSS/SCSS web front ends
• 5y+ years React and/or Next.js experience, with Angular highly desirable
• 2+ years Java Spring Boot (REST, JPA) or Node.JS experience building secure and scale-able real world applications and apis
• You have experience working in small, agile teams where you’ve juggled multiple projects and priorities, and you bring a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset which balances speed with attention to detail and quality
• Experience writing queries in SQL and database concepts
• Experience implementing modern, responsive design in HTML and CSS including working with javascript, SASS and modern web frameworks (including bootstrap)
• A keen eye and good aesthetic for what makes a distinctive, engaging site and/or app
• Experience implementing the UI from designs in Figma (UX/UI) or Zeplin
• Experience using source code management with git, including branching and merging
• Confident using IntelliJ IDEA/Webstorm (or Eclipse), npm/nvm or yarn and task management tools such as Jira/Trello
• Passion for doing good and working with good people
