About the Role

The Software Development team at Entrust ICT work on systems and tools that automate and improve the quality of internal and external business workflows. We work on exciting projects that include building new e-commerce systems and websites, automating internal procedures and integrating with APIs from vendors such as Telstra and NBN. 

This role suits a developer with 12 months experience in front-end and server-side technologies such as PHP and JavaScript, along with good communication skills. 

We will also consider recent graduates. 

About you

You will be required to demonstrate the following skills:

Technical Skills.

  • Strong knowledge and experience working with PHP. (Knowledge on using an Object-Oriented approach is advantageous).
  • Tertiary qualification in Software Development or IT related stream.
  • Strong skills in user interface design and responsive design; following UI/UX standards and best practices. (This includes designing wireframes/mock-ups and translating them into functioning interfaces).
  • Proficient in using HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS and MVC design pattern. Experience in using front end development frameworks like SemanticUI is a plus.
  • Strong skills and knowledge in relational database management systems like SQL. Experience in MySQL is preferred but not necessary. 
  • Experience in understanding and integrating RESTful and SOAP APIs (JSON, XML).
  • Ability to write clean and reusable code, including following best coding practices.

Following skills are advantageous to have:

  • Experience with WordPress; both front end and back end development. (Backend includes knowledge of the WordPress architecture; hooks and actions, predefined WordPress functions).
  • Proficient understanding of version control tools (GitHub/Bitbucket); including best practices in managing repositories. Experience working on Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge in testing procedures and code deployment.

  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to take a logical approach in solving problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team, providing and receiving feedback and peer reviews.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new technologies and languages.

Interview Format

  • There will be a technical task involving reading data from a csv file and presenting it in a user-friendly html format via a browser.
  • The task should take approximately 90 – 120 minutes so please allow enough time when arranging an interview.
  • If the task is completed successfully, you will be asked back for a second interview.
  • The second interview will be non-technical and will focus on your communication, organizational and leadership skills.
