Job Description

About the role

We’re looking for a developer who is happy writing product code one day and improving our pipelines and cloud infrastructure the next. You’ll work across the whole stack —backend APIs, database, CI/CD deployment — on an Agile team where your work ships quickly and you can see its impact.

This is a hands-on role for someone roughly 2–3 years into their career. We don’t expect you to be an expert in everything listed below; we care much more that you’ve built and shipped real things, and that you’re curious about the parts you haven’t touched yet.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain features end to end — React or Vue on the front end, Node.js/Python/Java services on the back end
  • Own your code through to production: write tests, review PRs, and keep the CI/CD pipelines green
  • Improve our GitHub Actions workflows so releases are faster and less manual
  • Provision, monitor, and maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudTrail, CloudWatch and friends)
  • Help debug production issues and contribute to postmortems — we fix causes, not symptoms
  • Document what you build so the next person doesn’t have to reverse-engineer it

What we’re looking for

Must have

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a software developer (internships and side projects count toward this if the work was substantial)
  • Solid JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, plus HTML, CSS, and hands-on experience with React or Vue and the npm ecosystem
  • Back-end experience in at least one of Node.js, Python, or Java, including building and consuming REST APIs
  • Working knowledge of SQL (MySQL or similar) and comfort with an ORM
  • Practical experience with Git-based workflows and a CI/CD tool — GitHub Actions preferred
  • Hands-on AWS experience: you’ve deployed something yourself and can explain how it runs, not just that it does
  • Security fundamentals: IAM policy design, secrets management, least-privilege thinking
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice to have

  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
  • Docker and container orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
  • Observability and alerting tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Sentry)
  • Experience in a startup environment
