Job Description

We’re building a third-person action game that demands gameplay you feel—tight, impactful, and reactive. You won’t be slapping together generic mechanics here. You’ll own the combat system from start to finish: combos, stamina, hit detection, all of it. Your work will shape how players experience every moment, from enemy encounters to story-driven events. If you want your code to be the core of a game that stands out, this is your spot.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build and polish the combat loop in Unreal Engine 5—think fluid combos, stamina management, hit reactions.
  • Team up with animators and AI developers to make sure NPCs and players move and fight like they mean it.
  • Work with narrative folks to connect gameplay with story beats—real-time action that reacts to player choices.
  • Craft gameplay systems beyond combat—contextual interactions, physics puzzles, stealth elements.
  • Build tools so designers and QA can tweak difficulty and controls on the fly during playtests.
  • Improve editor workflows for placing cinematic triggers and level scripting.

What We’re Looking For

  • You’ve shipped at least one 3D action or RPG game where your gameplay code actually made it to players.
  • C++ is your second language, especially within Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • You get the nitty-gritty of animation blending, montages, and responsive input buffering.
  • Combat design isn’t just buzzwords—you know how to build invulnerability frames, input windows, and telegraphs.
  • You’ve tackled multiplayer replication challenges for gameplay systems.
  • Writing debug tools and gameplay tuning interfaces is in your toolkit.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Soulslike, stealth, or reactive narrative games.
  • Familiar with Unreal’s Gameplay Ability System, Enhanced Input, Chaos Physics.
  • Experience with AI Behavior Trees and utility-based decision making.
  • You care about accessibility and UX in combat systems.
  • You’ve contributed to modding communities or open-source tools.
