Job Description

This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external vendors (Pantheon hosting) to assess, optimize, and maintain web platforms while delivering an improved user experience.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress Development & Maintenance

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize WordPress multisite environments
  • Manage WordPress core, themes, and plugins
  • Implement performance, scalability, and security improvements

Integration & Development

  • Build and maintain integrations using APIs and REST services
  • Develop custom solutions using PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and jQuery
  • Support new feature development and enhancements

DevOps & Performance

  • Support deployment, testing, and release management
  • Monitor system performance using tools like New Relic, SolarWinds
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and performance optimization

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure WordPress security best practices
  • Manage patching and vulnerability fixes
  • Maintain compliance with WCAG 2.1AA accessibility standards

Database & System Management

  • Manage database creation, backups, and optimization
  • Ensure data integrity and system reliability

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with internal web services team
  • Collaborate with hosting provider (Pantheon)
  • Understand user needs and improve user experience

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience
  • Strong expertise in WordPress (multisite environments preferred)
  • Proficiency in:
    • PHP
    • JavaScript / jQuery
    • HTML5 / CSS
  • Experience with Git or similar version control tools
  • Experience with APIs and RESTful services
  • Strong understanding of web accessibility (WCAG standards)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 education or public sector
  • Experience with Pantheon hosting platform
  • Experience with enterprise-level website environments
  • Familiarity with DevOps monitoring tools
