Job Description

We’re on the lookout for a talented Front End Web Developer to join our crew. The structure of this role, including days, hours and remuneration, will be shaped around the right candidate and their skillset.

The Role:

At its core, this is a web development role. You’ll be building, launching and maintaining websites end-to-end for a varied portfolio of clients – primarily in WordPress, with some Shopify – and working closely with our creative director, studio manager and team throughout. We lean heavily toward custom builds and take pride in producing work that’s considered, well-crafted and built to perform.

You’ll contribute your technical expertise at the right points throughout each project. You’ll liaise with clients directly when needed, and bring genuine care to the quality of what you build. If you also come with Figma and UX/UI skills, even better – but it’s not essential.

Day to day you’ll be:

  • Building and maintaining websites in WordPress and Shopify
  • Writing clean, functional front-end code (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP)
  • Using Git for version control and maintaining clean, well-documented code
  • Building landing pages and eDM templates as needed across client projects
  • Conducting testing and UAT to ensure builds are solid before they go live
  • Developing and maintaining documentation to support quality and consistency across projects
  • Contributing your technical expertise across multiple client projects simultaneously
  • Collaborating with our creative director and studio team throughout the build process
  • Communicating with clients directly – clearly and without the tech jargon
  • Staying current with emerging tools, technologies and development best practices

Bonus if you also bring:

  • UX/UI design experience and confidence in Figma
  • An eye for good design and the ability to bridge design and development
  • An understanding of technical SEO fundamentals – site performance, Core Web Vitals, crawlability and site structure

You:

  • Have 2–5 years of experience in a web development role, ideally in a creative or digital agency
  • Are solid in WordPress, comfortable with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP, and ideally have some Shopify exposure
  • Are confident using Git and version control as part of your standard workflow
  • Have high standards and genuinely care about the quality of what you create
  • Stay curious – you keep up with the tools, trends and technologies shaping the web
  • Are organised, self-directed and can manage your workload across multiple projects without dropping the ball
