The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant is a technically focused accounting role responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, statutory compliance, month-end close activities, payroll processing and financial analysis.
Working within a close-knit team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting business performances through insightful analysis, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
This hands-on position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate monthly financial accounts and reporting packs.
- Perform month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Process fortnightly payroll, super and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting
- Monitor manufacturing and operational cost variances and provide insights to support business performance.
- Prepare and lodge indirect tax returns and support taxation compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG Withholding, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, and WorkCover obligations.
- Support cash flow management, including bank reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with year-end audit processes and the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Support process improvement initiatives and strengthen internal financial controls.
- Provide financial support and analysis to operational and management stakeholders.
- Provide back up during team member’s leave periods.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
- Experience processing payroll, superannuation, STP reporting. Experience using MicroPay is highly regarded.
- Exposure to taxation compliance, including GST, FBT, Payroll Tax, and corporate reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
- Experience using ERP systems, with SAP experience highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
