Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Claim handling, from inception to closure, for various bond types, based upon prior construction claim or adjusting experience and willingness to learn more
- Investigate, research, analyze, and process claims with prescribed authorization and according to claims best practice
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, industry trends and techniques, technologies, etc.
- Negotiate settlements in collaboration with clients, attorneys, and third parties, earning the respect of others via professionalism, courtesy, decorum, and diligence
- Meet all deadlines and mandates for record-keeping
- Compose various complex reports on behalf of management
- Contribute, as needs dictate, to the work of others and the growth of the company
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor?s Degree
- 5-7 years (or more!) of progressively responsible claims experience in surety, property & casualty, or a related field that also involves technical complexity
- Specific construction and engineering experience not required? but advantageous
- Superior, demonstrated claim resolution skills, including critical thinking, business acumen and people smarts
- While not required, any law, paralegal, or construction-related experience will be an asset
- Demonstrated organizational, detail, and overall project management excellence
- Knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices, and procedures
- Superior written (solid grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary) and verbal communication (clarity, diplomacy, presentation) skills
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of software
- Discretion and tact
- Ability to pass a background check
