Job Description

We’re looking for a Digital Illustrator who doesn’t just “draw well” but builds worlds, renders ideas with edge, and works like a visual strategist. This role is for someone who moves between composition, storytelling, and experimentation—not someone who waits for inspiration to strike.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:

  • Collaborating with creative leads to develop original illustrations that support story arcs, world-building, or brand personalities.
  • Rendering characters, environments, and visual metaphors in a consistent tone and style—adapting across client needs while maintaining artistic voice.
  • Taking rough concepts (sometimes napkin sketches or verbal references) and translating them into production-ready visuals with clarity and emotional depth.
  • Creating assets for web, mobile, and print—including layered files, texture variations, and alternate compositions for multiple platforms.
  • Actively participating in critique sessions and pushing back when a visual idea lacks integrity, narrative logic, or clarity.

You Should Have:

  • A portfolio that shows range—but with intentionality. We want to see a point of view, not a random mix of styles.
  • Proven experience illustrating for media such as games, publishing, branding, or long-form editorial work.
  • Exceptional composition, lighting, and perspective skills—especially in building mood and guiding viewer focus.
  • Ability to work in layered vector and raster formats (Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalents), with clean file organization.
  • Familiarity with color modes, DPI, bleed/safe areas, and format specs for both print and digital output.
  • Bonus: animation-ready illustration experience or working knowledge of visual handoff for motion designers.

What Sets You Apart:

  • You ask why before drawing. You solve visual problems instead of just producing pretty pictures.
  • You build texture, story, and world logic into your work without overcomplicating it.
  • You’re comfortable taking a loose art direction and running with it—offering sketches, moodboards, and process updates without being micromanaged.
  • You thrive in async collaboration, communicate clearly in writing, and know when to ask for feedback vs. when to keep iterating.
  • You’ve illustrated for audiences beyond English-speaking markets and understand localization-friendly design.
