Job Description

What you’ll be doing 

• Take ownership of features end to end, from technical design through implementation, testing and deployment
• Design, develop and maintain BGL web applications and services across the full stack, frontend interfaces to backend APIs and data layers
• Build scalable code meeting our team quality standards
• Contributing in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and reviews, daily stand ups and retrospectives
• Keeping up to date with current and emerging web technologies
• Diagnose, triage and resolve software defects efficiently to maintain system reliability and minimise user impact

What we’re looking for

• Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 3+ years of professional experience in a full stack development role
• Strong working knowledge of: Java and Spring Boot, TypeScript, React or Angular
• Must also be well versed across REST API design and development (OpenAPI / Swagger), SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL etc), Git and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, branching strategies), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent) and Docker fundamentals, AWS core services (S3, RDS, IAM), Software design patterns (SOLID, microservices)
• Fluent in using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot) for productive and responsible software delivery
• Python (nice to have)
