Job Description
We’re looking for a Data Scientist to drive experimentation and product intelligence for our consumer-facing digital platform. This role is not about building dashboards or running standard SQL queries—it’s about owning the experimental framework that guides product decisions, designing causal inference pipelines, and delivering deeply analytical insights that shape what we build and how users engage with it.
You’ll work closely with product managers, behavioral scientists, and engineers to formalize hypotheses, model user behavior, and develop interpretable metrics that map to real business outcomes. Our ideal candidate is someone who can think like a researcher and execute like an engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evaluate A/B and multivariate experiments across new product features and user experiences
- Build predictive and causal models to understand user behavior and retention
- Create frameworks for interpreting test results beyond p-values—understand practical significance, heterogeneity, and trade-offs
- Partner with engineering to implement tracking strategies that improve signal quality and attribution logic
- Develop domain-specific KPIs and supporting metrics to monitor impact, not just output
- Communicate findings with nuance—tailoring technical depth to audiences ranging from C-suite to front-end developers
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Programming: Expert in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Statsmodels or PyMC) and SQL; comfortable with dbt or similar data transformation tools
- Modeling: Solid foundation in statistical inference, regression techniques, time-series analysis, and causal inference (e.g., difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, Bayesian modeling)
- Experimentation: Experience designing and evaluating online controlled experiments at scale (e.g., multiple treatment arms, sequential testing)
- Data Design: Able to work with event-based data from platforms like Amplitude, Segment, or Mixpanel and build structured tables from raw logs
- Communication: Demonstrated ability to write clear documentation and present technical insights to cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with product analytics tools like Looker, Mode, or Hex
- Familiarity with ML deployment pipelines using Airflow or Prefect
- Prior work in subscription-based digital products or platforms with complex user journeys
