Data Operations (R and Python)
Job Description
This role is ideal for someone with deep experience working with complex survey datasets in a market or social research environment who enjoys combining technical problem solving with team leadership.
You’ll remain close to the work – developing data pipelines, automation tools and reusable packages – while mentoring a high-performing technical team and driving continuous improvement across major research programs.
The Opportunity
Leading a team of Data Scientists and Data Operations specialists, you will:Lead, mentor and develop a growing technical data teamProvide hands-on technical leadership across major longitudinal and ad-hoc research projectsDesign, build and optimise scalable data processing pipelinesDevelop reusable scripts, packages and automation toolsManage complex survey datasets from multiple data sources and APIsEnsure accuracy, quality and methodological integrity across all outputsPartner closely with researchers and internal stakeholders to solve complex data challengesIdentify opportunities to improve automation, efficiency and technical best practice.
About YouExperience working within a market research, social research or survey research environmentStrong hands-on experience processing and managing large-scale survey datasetsAdvanced programming capability in R and PythonStrong SPSS/Q skills and working knowledge of SQL and GitExperience building data pipelines, automation workflows and reusable packagesExcellent data wrangling, cleaning and transformation skillsPrior experience leading, coaching or mentoring technical team membersConfidence acting as a senior technical specialist and trusted advisorExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
