Job Description

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a Cloud Engineer with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure for distributed systems in a production environment. You’ll be embedded in our Platform Engineering team, responsible for shaping our AWS-based infrastructure and improving deployment velocity, system reliability, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build, and manage infrastructure using AWS services such as VPC, IAM, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform (not CloudFormation), with modular and reusable codebases following GitOps practices.
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters (EKS), including node auto-scaling, ingress management, RBAC policies, and secure workload isolation.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD for application and infrastructure deployment.
  • Lead incident response and postmortems for high-severity production issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Perform regular cost analysis and propose improvements — especially around data transfer, storage, and compute costs.
  • Collaborate closely with backend and data teams to containerize applications using Docker and deploy them to Kubernetes with Helm.
  • Evaluate and onboard emerging tools for observability, zero-downtime deployments, and policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper).

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in AWS-heavy environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform (0.12+) and managing production-grade Kubernetes clusters.
  • Solid scripting skills in Python or Go for automation tasks.
  • Deep understanding of IAM policy design, security groups, VPC peering, and service-level isolation.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD tooling, preferably with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and Helm.
  • Experience implementing system observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or similar).
  • Familiarity with zero-downtime deployment strategies and canary rollouts.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Exposure to multi-account AWS architectures using AWS Organizations and SCPs.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies like Linkerd or Istio.
  • Contributions to open-source DevOps/cloud-native projects.
